- NEVER ENDING LIGHTNING STORM
Well lightning storms are common and happen almost everywhere on earth but they disappear in a short period of time but things at LAKE MARACAIBO in West-Venezuela seem to be different,this place witnesses lighting show for around 300 nights per year, 10 hours continuously each day that could be seen from hundreds of kilometers away. During the peak season the strikes could be up to 28-40 per minute on average. This phenomenon is called catatumbo lightning. This place has intrigued meteorologists and people around the world due to its unique, terrifying, fascinating visual spectacle and seems something straight out of fiction. It's been recorded as early as 1598 by poet LOPE DE VEGA. So why does it happen.........well there have been several hypothesis but majorly failed to explain so most possible explanation seems to be topography of area of lake which is surrounded by range of Andes mountains which mix up the cold and warm winds which makes all ingredients available for "world's largest lightning show". 2. MOVILE CAVE, another world inside earth
In 1986, a crew in southern Romania was searching for a good place for their geothermal power-plant, when they accidentally discovered the most bizarre and mysterious cave of all 'THE MOVILE CAVE"
this cave was completely disconnected from rest of the earth's ecosystem as it was sealed from everywhere yet it was crawling with its own strange life forms, more that 20 meters underground in earth the cave is warm, completely dark, full of toxic gases and has a lake that smells like rotten eggs
The cave has been isolated for about 5.5 million years yet it has its own complex ecosystem without sunlight oxygen and other stuff unavailable at this level. The lake is covered in tissue paper like mat which is infact billions of bacteria which feast Co 2, The air has 100 times more carbon di oxide then outside air, these bacteria counter photosynthesis- chemo-synthesis,other than bacteria the place is filled with crawling creepers insects spiders etc scientist have found 48 species in cave out of which 33 were unknown before I.e they are not found anywhere on earth, these creatures have evolved according to their environment,they have large antennas to sense darkness and many don't have eyes since there is no need for them. such places give us insight on how one can live evolve and survive in different condition without help and really hold our hope to find life on other planets.
3. DEVIL'S KETTLE FALLS
This waterfall is surely the most absurd one you will ever see. At first glance it seems normal but there is a mystery coming ahead. In other falls the water tumbles down to the ground follows a stream and meets a sea ahead. But in this one the water just disappear in the ground and never comes out, The waterfall has two parts east-side west-side coming from different rivers while east side is perfectly normal by which the water running down from it meets great lake and west side is the mysterious one.
On this side water just tumbles down in a rocky pothole and just disappears and as far as anyone can tell it is never seen again, it never overflows from pothole therefore it must be going somewhere but one can never tell where? people have tried throwing things like ping-pong balls, color die but those things never showed up again.
Well earth is filled with many many such bizarre places we may see them in upcoming articles until then keep exploring.
