Atheism in simpler terms is a rejection of belief that God or Deities
exist . Atheism should not be confused with agnosticism , atheism is rejection
of existence of God and religion while agnosticism is a view that
existence of God is unknowable .
As every
coin has two sides likewise,if there are believers then there would be
non-believers as well , which is genuine . But even in 21st century
people don’t see this as genuine . We
often come across news regarding persecution and discrimination with atheists
only because their thoughts are not like the rest .
As compared to the world , discrimination
with atheists in India is less because
there are less number of people who admit that they are atheists ,due to fear of rejection from society
otherwise India would be at the top of the list . Also in USA atheists are
legally protected under religious freedom bill signed by Barak Obama in 2016,
India don’t have such rule till now. In India we don’t really treat atheists as
one of us , why so ?
Most of the believers think science is
something which drives people away from God but I think this is completely
absurd ,cause there are some scientists who had strong belief in God like Isaac Newton etcetera on the other hand there were many
scientists who didn’t believe in God like Stephen hawking , Werner Heisenberg
etcetera. So what should be the reason behind someone’s atheism , according to
me reason behind it may be different perspective of science . Not everyone
understands science completely ,those who understand ,have their own
perspective , which make existence of God an absurd thought for them . There
might be some other reason behind atheism like skepticism etc . Only because
someone is thinking differently about God doesn’t give right to anyone to
discriminate them and throw them out of society or treat them as outsiders ,
like wise atheists also have no rights to hurt anyone's religious sentiment .
Now
many big names are admitting that they are atheists like Daniel Radcliffe (Harry
potter) ,these small steps will eventually helps other atheists to share their
thoughts openly . Atheists represent minority which doesn’t mean that they are
wrong and theists are right . Everyone should acknowledge their(atheists) thoughts
and these two contradictory ideas should co-exist for betterment of mankind .
As everyone has different perspective of God ,in the end I would like to give you one such perspective of
God , The Spinoza's idea of God , he believed that God is “ Sum of the
natural and physical laws of the universe and certainly not an individual entity
or creator “
